Translational Research Forum
This group brings together clinicians and researchers to discuss scientific ideas, collaborate on trial design and accelerate innovative translational research.
Scope of membership
This group is open to any researchers or clinicians across the network.
We encourage early-career researchers to join the group, share ideas for support and take part in upcoming workshops and project activities. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a senior researcher from a different field who can mentor you on your projects.
Remit
Focus on important research questions that can benefit from collaboration and fit with our experimental cancer medicine centres (ECMC) network’s goals and expertise.
Create standard procedures for projects.
Use data, samples, and resources across the network to address questions regarding unmet clinical need.
Draw on expertise in both haematological and solid tumour cancers, across different age groups.
Design clinical trials that collect data efficiently, promoting standardisation across trials.
Seek funding for joint research programs across our centres and with different networks.
Priorities for 2026
Build a cross-network programme on targeting transcription factors to accelerate clinical translation of emerging degraders, PROTACs and molecular glues.
Develop a multi-centre initiative to develop biomarkers of response, resistance and toxicity for next-generation T-cell therapies.
Steering committee
Gary Middleton, Birmingham ECMC (Chair)
Kienan Savage, Belfast ECMC (Vice-chair)
Membership consists of a range of participants from across our ECMC network.
