Newcastle paediatric centre

This centre is embedded within the Children and Young People's (CYP) Oncology Unit in Newcastle. It's a first-in-child centre offering cutting-edge early-phase clinical trials for CYP aged 0-19.

Centre overview

Our Newcastle paediatric Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) is an Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer European Consortium (ITCC) accredited early-phase trials site and a founding member of the Phase I Northern ChiLDrEn’s Cancer Network (INCLuDE). INCLuDE was established jointly with Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Belfast to expand access to innovative therapies across the north of the UK.

The centre benefits from links to the Newcastle Cancer Centre, which hosts one of Europe’s largest paediatric oncology translational research programmes, Cancer Research Horizons’ Newcastle drug discovery programme, the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Unit and the Cancer Research UK paediatric tumour biobank. It also has dedicated facilities for patients and families travelling to Newcastle.

There is also an adult centre in Newcastle.
