Glasgow paediatric centre
This centre is based at the Royal Hospital for Children's Children and Young Adult Cancer Unit, delivering phase 1/2 trials to children and young adults across Scotland and northeast England.
Centre overview
Our Glasgow paediatric experimental cancer medicine centre (ECMC) is the only paediatric ECMC in Scotland, providing pioneering experimental treatments locally and via a strong northern network. The clinical trials service is embedded within the Children And Young Adult Cancer Unit, Royal Hospital for Children and the centre works within Scotland’s Managed Service Network for Cancer.
Its multidisciplinary team includes international leaders in paediatric haematology and solid and brain tumours. The centre has a dedicated research nurse, supported by consultant oncologists at the radiotherapy facilities at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
There is also an adult centre in Glasgow.

Milind Ronghe - Centre lead
Milind Ronghe is the centre's Lead Clinician and paediatric ECMC lead with over 20 years' experience as a Paediatric Oncologist. His expertise has facilitated the teaching and development of our clinical trials unit. He has been an active member of ITCC Europe since 2006 and CCLG Novel Agents subgroup - since 2009. Additionally, he co-chairs the ECMC northern regional relapse discussion panel.
Research nurses
The Glasgow Paediatric Oncology research nursing team is a highly skilled and experienced group, expertly coordinating and delivering a wide-ranging portfolio of oncology trials from early-to late-phase studies with recruitment extending across the UK and Ireland. The research nursing team includes Rachel Armour (also this centre's business lead), David Devenney and Alison Spence.
