Training the Next Generation (TNG) has been developed by junior investigators for junior investigators.

It’s a mix of lectures and interactive sessions, including the opportunity to receive advice from senior investigators on attendees' own study ideas.

This is an annual two-day event held since 2013 with over 700 trainees attending. It's aimed at junior clinicians in cancer specialities and postdoctoral scientists (non-clinicians) at our centres interested in a career in cancer translational research who would benefit from learning how to develop study ideas.

What we offer attendees

  • Opportunity to network with senior investigators (clinicians, scientists and statisticians) from across our network and from a range of expertise.

  • Opportunity to network with patient representatives and explore the best way to involve patients and the public in your research.

  • Make connections with peers from different backgrounds across our network.

  • Learn about exciting research going on in our network.

  • Supportive environment to discuss your own study ideas.
