No patient or confidential information is recoded or displayed in the database.

Who manages the tool?

EC Trial Finder is delivered by our programme office in collaboration with the technology department at Cancer Research UK. It is accessed by data managers at each NHS site who update the database monthly with new actively recruiting trials.

Does EC Trial Finder include trials outside of the network?

Yes, EC Trial Finder includes early-phase oncology trials within our network and at additional clinical research facilities across the UK.

If your site is interested in listing your studies on EC Trial Finder, please contact the team at ECTrialFinder@cancer.org.uk

Does the database have UK NHS Ethics approval?

EC Trial Finder is a searchable register of trials, not a research database project, so Health Research Authority or NHS Ethics approval is not required.

Is there any commercial involvement?

The project is led by Cancer Research UK which is a non-profit organisation. There is no commercial involvement.

Why isn't the tool open to patients and the public?

EC Trial Finder is open only to clinical staff because it contains contact details for study investigators and recruiting sites. It is designed for professionals, so the terminology is tailored to those responsible for identifying suitable trials for patients.

Up-to-date information from EC Trial Finder is shared with Cancer Research UK’s 'Find a Trial' team, who publish it on their clinical trial database for a lay audience. This ensures the data is presented in a way that is accessible and appropriate for patients and carers, while both platforms benefit from accurate, current information.
