The aim of this group is to bring together, and help develop, junior investigators across all disciplines of translational research within the ECMCs.
Membership is aimed at any early career cancer researchers committed to becoming independent investigators, such clinical colleagues wishing to specialise in a cancer-relevant field and from final year of PhD onwards for non-clinical colleagues.
The Network Group aims to support junior investigators up to the point of completing their first programme or project grant. Members will be invited to join the Junior Investigators Alumni thereafter to support or mentor newer members.
We have collated information about training opportunities for junior investigators in the ECMC network. Please contact the training providers directly if you have any queries.
We have collated some information about funding and support opportunities for cancer researchers. Please note that these include details of some of the funding offered by the main core funders of cancer research and is not an exhaustive list. For example some smaller charities may also have relevant funding schemes.
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is when patients or members of the public use their experiences of cancer to help shape research. so that it is carried out with or by patients, rather than to or for them. You can consult, collaborate or partner with patients at all stages of the research cycle.
In 2016 the Training the Next Generation event was hosted in Glagow. The event was very well attended, and attendees - both at trainee and faculty level - enjoyed their time and agreed that the networking and series of talks and activities were incredible useful.
