UCL's involvement in the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine trial

UCLH is part of the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine trial and expected to recruit 500 participants in June. Recruitment will focus on healthcare workers who have had a higher chance of exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This includes, for example, clinical staff in intensive care, A&E and COVID-19 wards, as well as non-clinical staff working in COVID-19 wards such as hospital porters and cleaners. The study will assess if healthy people can be protected from COVID-19 with this new vaccine, and provide valuable information on safety aspects of the vaccine and its ability to generate good immune responses against the virus.
